Mission Of The Department

The mission of the Kohler School Counseling Program is to engage all students through a comprehensive school counseling program centered around the knowledge, skills, and attitudes that students need to achieve academic success, college and career readiness, and social/emotional development to reach their highest potential.  School counselors are professional advocates who inspire and guide strategy development to assist all students’ attainment of a healthy personal life balance.

 

School Counselor, Mrs. Multer is responsible for the academic, career, and social-emotional domains for students in Elementary school at Kohler. The professional school counselor holds a master’s degree and requires state certification in school counseling.  Maintaining certification includes ongoing professional development to stay current with educational reform and challenges facing today’s students. Professional association membership is encouraged as it enhances the school counselor’s knowledge and effectiveness.

About the School Counselor

Mrs. Multer has been educating Wisconsin students since 1996.  Mrs. Multer and her husband, Brent (a Kohler graduate), and their sons (recent Kohler graduates) reside in the town of Sheboygan Falls. 

Education:

Mrs. Multer received her training for her school counseling certification from UW-Stout and her Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study in School Psychology from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. She earned her M.S.Ed.in School Psychology from UW-La Crosse and her B.S. in Psychology and Human Development - Cum Laude from UW-Green Bay.  She continues to take graduate-level classes and has earned 80 + credits beyond her master's degree to keep current in the field of education. Mrs. Multer has additional training and experience with TRIBES TLC, Comprehensive School Counseling Model - Levels I, II & III,  Restorative Practices and Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports (PBIS) Tier 1 & 2 and Selective Mutism.

Experience:

Mrs. Multer has been at Kohler Schools since February of 2001.  She is currently the Elementary School Counselor and PBIS Internal Coach for the Elementary School.  She worked for four years as the 3rd Grade - 12th Grade School Counselor ten years as the 4K-12th Grade Counselor and six years as the 4K-8th Grade Counselor at Kohler Schools. Before working at Kohler she served the Independence School District for three and a half years as a School Psychologist and Elementary School Counseling Instructor.  She also worked for a year for the Medford Area School District as a School Psychologist and Families and Schools Together (F.A.S.T.) program coordinator.

Professional Associations and Contributions

Mrs. Multer was selected as the School District of Kohler Teacher of the Year in 2013-2014.  She was honored to be recognized as a Kohl Fellow in 2012.  She is a member of the Wisconsin School Counselor Association (WSCA) and the American School Counselor Association (ASCA). She recently completed a three-year term as an elected member of the WSCA Board.  She has been a presenter at the National Conference on Bullying in Orlando, Florida, the Wisconsin Academic and Career Planning Conference,  the Wisconsin Lions State Convention, the  Wisconsin Building the Heart of Successful Schools Conference,  and multiple times at the annual Wisconsin School Counselor Association Conference.
