APRIL 6, 2021 REFERENDUM

These are exciting times at the District as our students continue to excel both in and out of the classroom. Academically, Kohler students consistently rank in the top 1% in Wisconsin.

As a district, we’ve also been working hard to control costs and increase operating efficiencies, which has resulted in a declining tax mill rate.

We are proud of this rare combination of top performance coupled with responsible spending.

While our focus will always be on enhancing student learning, the District has spent the past two years developing a plan to:

  • Update our building and grounds;
  • Address the space limitations in Technical Education (shop) area; and
  • Build a community of school spirit and pride.

The District’s long-range master planning efforts, good financial stewardship, and a community-wide survey guided the Board’s decision to place two referendum questions on the April 6 ballot.

While the two questions reflect a prioritization of the District’s needs, both questions and their related projects are critical to the ongoing, long-term success of the District.

As a result of careful planning, proactive repayment of previous debts to reduce interest costs, and current historically low interest rates, the District can fund both referendum questions (if approved) without increasing the debt portion of the school property tax mill rate over the current level.
