The National Honor Society (NHS) is the nation's premier organization established to recognize outstanding high school students. More than just an honor roll, NHS serves to honor those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of Scholarship, Leadership, Service, and Character.

Requirements for National Honor Society are:

1. 3.7 or above G.P.A. through five semesters (juniors) or seven semesters (seniors)

2. High School faculty will rate students in the areas of service, leadership, and character. The above criteria are averaged and candidates who receive a 3.0 or above are invited to become members of the Kohler High School National Honor Society.

3. Students are given an opportunity to submit an essay in which it is suggested they discuss the following topics: their character and leadership and what they consider to be most important about their service in school and the community. The essay is used by the faculty evaluations in their assessment of each candidate.

4. The students are also encouraged to submit a resume of their high school extra-curricular activities and service.
