Secondary Exceptional Education

The Middle/High School Exceptional Education Program shall provide an array of services along a continuum ranging from instruction to consultation. The extent and location of services is determined on an individual basis by a team of qualified educators and the student’s parents (IEP Team). These services shall be provided to students with special needs in all categories of exceptional education.
PROGRAMMING OPTIONS:
The Middle/High School Exceptional Education Program has performance goals as stated in the Elementary Exceptional Education Program Summary.
Additional Middle/High School Exceptional Education Program goals based on student IEP may include:
• Evaluate individual students in the area of vocational needs
• Provide work study experiences for students as needed
• Work with parents and students to ensure that graduation requirements will be fulfilled
• Provide resource study halls for students to work one-on-one or in small groups for enhanced learning
• Write a transition plan for post-secondary options for students over age 14
• Support services within the regular classroom by teacher or educational assistant
• Assess student progress based on IEP goals at least once per quarter
