Elementary Exceptional Education Program
Elementary Exceptional Education-
The Elementary Exceptional Education program shall provide an array of services along a continuum ranging from direct instruction to consultation. The extent and location of services is determined on an individual basis by a team of qualified educators and the student’s parents (IEP Team). These services shall be provided to students with special needs in all categories of exceptional education.
GOALS:
The Elementary Exceptional Education Program will provide the following services:
- Evaluate individual student needs in the areas of academic skills, social skills and behavioral skills.
- Determine Least Restrictive Environment (LRE) and implement services in a variety of settings according to this guideline.
- Coordinate the development of an Individual Education Program (IEP) based on the individual needs as determined and recommended by the IEP Team.
- Work closely with other team members to ensure implementation of IEP goals during daily activities in the school environment including classroom and special areas (art, music, etc.).
- Communicate with and involve parents in the education of their child.
- Work closely with and assist the regular education teacher(s) in utilizing various strategies and techniques to best meet the strengths and challenges of individual students.
- Assess student progress based on IEP goals at least one per quarter.
